Settling In

It has been 9 days since Rebecca was born. The time flies by! One of my friends said that once you have a baby what used to take you a day now takes you a week. It is so true! Fortunately we had had lots of help.

We didn't put a diaper on Rebecca and as we were posing for pictures she pooped all over her towel

She is so cute!

A Baby Story

I walked into my kitchen at 5:30pm on Monday to start cooking super and my water broke. I had learned in one of my birthing classes that 90% of women get their water broken once they get to the hospital so I wasn't expecting it at all. A few minutes later Matt got home from school and we headed to the hospital. I called the doctor on the way and he said, "Come on up here, get your stuff together, you don't rush, it's not like the movies." We arrived at the hospital about two minutes later, at 6:00. A nurse confirmed that my water had broken. I was at one centimeter, fully effaced, 0 station. I was given pitocin to speed things up because I'm a group B strep carrier. It worked. The contractions started and I got an epidural at 8:30. I was fully dilated at 10:00. They waited until 11:00 to have me start pushing so I could get one more dose of antibiotics for the step. I pushed for 50 minutes and Rebecca was born. It was incredible! I really can't even put it into words.

We are so happy!!

I spent the next two days in the hospital. There was a little pull out couch for Matt.

Visitors!

I'm breast feedings and it took a while for Rebecca to get the hang of it. I'm also Croom's positive so while we were in the hospital she developed jaundice. She got some photo therapy and we started feeding her formula. She had to spend and extra night in the hospital (it was so hard to leave her!!) but she did really well and we got to take her home the next day.

She's Here!

Rebecca Elizabeth Rogers was born September 20th at 11:50pm. She weighted 7.4 pounds and was 19.5 inches long. We are so in love!

Happy Birthday, Matt!

September 9th was Matt's 30th birthday.

Lots of friends were here to celebrate. The Bentons drove down from North Carolina.

Saturday was the Alabama/Penn State game. We had everyone over to watch the early games at our house.

Then tailgating on the Quad

Then to Moe's to watch the game. Roll Tide!

Last weekend we actually made it to the game. Alabama played San Jose State and the tickets were a little bit more affordable.

Tailgating with our friends, Joey and Heather

The Game- great seats and great weather. So much fun!

37 Weeks

I feel like I am getting bigger and bigger everyday! I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and found out Rebecca is in the same spot as last week so hopefully that means she'll wait a few more weeks to make an appearance.

Nursery

Yesterday we finished the nursery! Lately I've been a little bit crazy about getting my house organized and decorated. I know my baby will not notice decorations in my house but with moving in I feel like I have to get everything exactly perfect. Matt has been awesome about installing blinds, hanging pictures, etc. We had kind of been slacking until I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and found out I was 1 cm dilated, 80% effaced with a -1 station. My doctor said, "Oh, your baby is really low, she'll probably come early." What?!! I thought I had four more weeks at least! So ever since then we have been kicking it into high gear.

A few days before my doctor's appointment Matt and I went for a walk and he said, "You look like you're carrying low." I said, "No, that's just my outfit." Apparently Dr. Rogers knows what he is talking about. Although according to his calculations I'm really due September 30th instead of September 26th. Next weekend we're planning on having friends stay with us for the Alabama/Penn State game to celebrate Matt's 30th birthday. I'm pretty sure that's when Rebecca will come. If she is anything like her dad she would hate to miss a good party. My mom said she, her sister and her mom all had their babies early so we will see...

Here are a few pictures of the rest of the house:

The kitchen- I like to say it's the size of my cubicle at work, but the layout is good (everything is right there) and I really like it

The dining room- Thanks Christina for the art work!
